CASTROL AND MUD DOGS

CASTROL AND MUD DOGS:
A PERFECT MIX
Brydens Distribution excited to be involved with the Mud Dogs.

Dwayne Holmes of Brydens Distribution, local agents for Castrol Lubricants, was on hand at Tuesday’s briefing meeting, to give the gathered competitors an overview of the wide range of Castrol products available. At the end of the meeting, 23 teams had signed up to compete in this weekend’s Castrol Summer Mudfest, at “The Dog Pound” in Searles Factory, Christ Church.
Spectators can expect a day of thrills and spills when competition gets underway at 9am on Sunday. Competitors will first tackle the Tractor Pull, Slalom Course and the ever popular Mud Pit before the scheduled lunch break at midday. The action resumes at 1pm with the Obstacle Course, followed by the Rock Crawl and, should time permit, a second running of the Obstacle Course, this time in reverse direction, a challenge highly anticipated by course designers, Kirk King and Danny Croney.
Terry Mason, Top Dog in the Maxxis May Day Mudfest 2008, will be competing this Sunday as a spotter for Mark Phillips, who finished 2nd to Mason in May, in the Surfers Cafe Suzuki Samurai. Third place finishers, Gregory Farnum and Cody Foster return along with the teams of Dave Lowe/Kirk Payne, and Chris Armstrong/Andrew Croney, in an attempt to maintain the Suzuki Samurai domination of May Day.
They will face fierce competition from the winners of May Day Mudfest 2007, Rodney “Ramma” Mason and spotter Wendell “Biggy” Skeete in their Chevy V8 powered Monster Energy/Rodney’s Trucking/E-Z Sign Shop Mitsubishi Pajero. Ramma, who was forced to retire in the May Day Mudfest earlier this year, due to a bent front drive shaft and broken rear differential sustained in the daunting Obstacle Course, aims to return to the podium in this event. Another favourite in contention are the team of Anthony King/Dave Sealy, winners of the first Challenge event in 2006, who will compete in their Maxxis Tyres/Dynamic Limousine/ RACE1/Bovells Entertainment Toyota Hilux. The team will be using tractor tyres, in hopes of getting through the problematic Mud Pit, a critical edge in this closely contested event.
The event will conclude with a prize giving and social in the evening.
Come meet the crews, see their rigs and celebrate the end of a gruelling event with the Mud Dogs.
NB: Due to unforeseen circumstances there may not be ample food and drinks available at the event.
